Now that I own a rental property, this is money flying towards my home, not away!

Online rent collection is the way to go! One thing to note is that Venmo prohibits rent collection on their platform unless you sign up with a proper business account. That's one reason why I prefer property management software. Online rent collection is much more convenient than messing with checks, cash, etc!
