Eviction process expired lease

Jim Cunningham
Posted

My property is in Chicago, Illinois. Tenant’s lease expired November 30, 2018. Lease was not renewed. Tenants have not moved nor have they paid December’s rent. How do I evict?

Thank you,

Jim

You need to evict them for non payment of rent. The fact that the lease expired is a non issue. The issue at had is that they didn't pay Dec rent. Contact an attorney & get it handled. You never want to attempt to do an eviction, especially your 1st eviction without an attorney. I've done 100's of evictions & have never & will never attempt to do one without an attorney. There are some things that you can save money doing on your own. This isn't one of them.
