Single vs Multiple Family Homes

My goal for the end of 2019 is to have one cash flowing property (I'm new to REI). I'd also like to move out (I'm fairly young and am still living with my parents). What are some of your opinions on owing a SFR and renting for myself elsewhere vs owning a MFR and living in one of the units? Any advice would be great.

@Beckham Adams don’t try to reinvent the wheel . Just Househack a multifamily home . It’s the easiest entry into this game . I wouldn’t even mess around with single family houses unless you are happy making a pittance of 100$ a month until the furnaces AC goes out and you lost two years of profit in a day
