Rental property and LLC

Hello

I have a house that i want to rent but one twist - it is 2100 sq feet with 500 sq feet as self-contained mother-in-law unit attached to the house for the most part, separated only by  wall that lines up with kitchen and living room of the main house. I  want to occupy the mother-in-law unit and rent the main part of the house.

I would like to have an LLC set up.

is that feasible? just to rent part of the house under LLC.

what is the best way to protect my personal savings from this investment opportunity?

Any input is appreciated.

Sonu
