How would you account for this?

Hello all,

So I had a tenant whom I had to give a notice to leave. So the rent due for this tenant was $850 ($675 for rent plus $175 for utilities). The tenant never transfered the utilities on her name.

The tenant didn't pay me until the 14th Jan and she paid $865, when the total due by 14th was $930 including the late fee. I gave the tenant a notice to move out and she moved out on Jan 31st. Now when I am accounting for her security deposit, should I calculate the late fee through Jan 31 or Jan 14? I am confused.

If anyone can provide me some insight, it will be much appreciate.
