Virginia Real Estate License to be a landlord?

I am fairly new to real estate investing, I currently have two rental properties in Virginia. I am trying to find out if I need to have a real estate license to be a landlord.

I reached out to the real estate board with the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation today and asked them if I need a real estate license. They informed me they could not give legal advice, that I would need to read the regulation and determine myself or find a real estate attorney.

I have also reached out to a couple of lawyers in the area just waiting on an answer. Thought I would try BP to see if anyone could tell me if they are in Virginia.
