Lawn service contracts
Is it a standard for the industry for a landscaper to require all of the money for the entire season in advance?
As I transition out of self-management, I'm seeking bids for lawn service and I am running up against this practice, which gives me pause. Must I begin a brand new business relationship by writing someone I don't really know a check for a few thousand dollars for the work they are "supposed" to do over the next six months? What if they're terrible or unreliable and I want to fire them? I get that they are trying to fill their schedule with guaranteed work, but it seems like it puts all the risk onto the investor. Is this par for the course?
Thanks in advance!
