Painting after tenants move out

How often do you repaint after tenants move out? I have a college rental that was recently renovated with the whole house being repainted. The tenants are in for a year and then new ones move in. Was wondering how often do landlords repaint. Just when needed or every couple years depending on how well the property is maintained?

Too add to what @John W. said, use one color paint for all your rentals. Touch ups can be real simple, once your walls are all 1 color.
