I recently felt that I needed to consider other approaches to investing in vacant land. I read two books that I think are pretty good and wanted to recommend them to anyone interested. They are "Investing in Vacant Land" by John L Pehrson and "Pay Dirt" by Darren Proulx. If you do read these, let me know what you think of them.

The overall concepts do have validity. However, current market conditions in raw land are depression like. Now may very well be the time to selectively accumulate positions. I am reminded of a stock analyst who said now is not the time to buy stocks because the future is too uncertain. This was 2 years ago when the Dow was at 6500. The same analysts said now is the time to buy last month when the Dow hit 11,000. Money is made buying low, selling high. To do so takes the courage of conviction. I too sometimes have trouble "rolling the dice" to back up my beliefs. But nothing is certain, except uncertainty.
