People giving insufficient info on applications
I've started using the application off of BP because its so complete and thorough. Since I've been using it I have handed out a dozen or so and have only had one person fill out the entire app. . One lady was even appalled at the idea of giving me her bank account info. I live in a very rural area so i think its small town thinking that has everyone thinking that I'm being to strict. I DON'T plan on changing the app. . If they don't like the way i do business then I don't want them in my rental. That being said I was just wondering if anybody else has this type of problem. I'm having a hard time finding the perfect renters. Starting to wonder if they even exist.

My application is quite involved and asks for a lot of info, and I make no apologies for it. Personally, I consider the application to be another PRE-screening tool. I too have had prospective tenants choose not to fill it out because they thought it was asking too much. That's fine. They can rent somewhere else. My requests for information are not unreasonable.
Consider this: you are planning on lending your house for a year or more. You have a right to make sure they're worthy.
My app does not ask for actual account numbers--only name of bank and amount on hand today. However, I do sometimes request a copy of the most recent 2 bank statements (and, as was previously mentioned in this thread, they can cross off the account #). I've needed this to help confirm that they can afford the place.
BTW, there is no such think as the perfect tenant. But you can stick to your standards and require good tenants who can pay the rent and take care of the rental property as you want.
