Emergency preparation for rentals

At the lease signing, the tenants asked me what my plan to protect the rental was in the case of a hurricane. Unfortunately, I had no answer for them.

Obviously now I'm looking into a plan for boarding up the house windows if need be. What I was wondering is, if anyone here owns a number of rentals in a hurricane-prone area, how do you handle this? Do you hire workers to board up all of your properties, use hurricane shutters, or just leave the houses alone and hope for the best? And are you able to get workers to do this for you on short notice since everyone else is seeking the same services at the same time? Thanks.

Hmm. If they are worried about their belongings getting damaged, they need to buy rental insurance. Protection of your property is your business, not theirs.
