Tenant Move in Dilemma
Bigger Pockets Family,
I was wondering if this is legal: Can I ask a tenant to move out early if I am going to move into unit she is leaving anyway? I'll prorate the rent for her as soon as she is ready to move out. I am househacking my first property and plan on moving into the unit she currently occupies at the end of her lease on 31 OCT. I've already given her 60 days notice, so this won't come as a surprise. If she doesn't move out early it'll be a huge inconvenience to me.

Erik Nordgaard yes, you can ask, but you can't force her to move out early. A lease can be modified by the mutual agreement of the two parties. You can even offer a financial incentive if she is reluctant. Just document the modification and get a signature.
