Thinking about buying the duplex that I currently live in...

Hi everyone,

Brief background, I'm Active Duty Military and I'm currently stationed in NYC. I've been renting an apt in a duplex for about two years now and will be moving out next month. My landlord recently knocked on my door and told me he may be selling and was wondering if I'd be interested in buying. My plan was to buy a multi-family at my next duty station but I'm considering this property. However, I know nothing at all about what I'd be getting myself into. All I know is that, the units are fully updated. No rehab needed. Minimal work here and there. Price seems good to me in this part of the Bronx where run down homes in the ghetto are selling for 600,000. I'm thinking this may be my chance to just jump right in. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance.
