Hi Jason, Thanks for your response. Where would live until you had your 10 properties if you had a family of 4? An apt?

Hello everyone, My husband and I have 2 kids and have already started looking for properties in the Hampton Roads area of VA. Family of 4, ideally I’d like to live in a long term single family home. House hacking just seems like a stretch for us as we are going to be in VA for a few years. We want to start investing right away so we’re thinking VA loan for primary residence purchase, conventional loan for our very first investment property shortly after. We will not be in VA forever so ever our single family will become a rental. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello everyone, I will be relocating to VA in 6 months (March to be exact.) The goal is to buy a multi-family and make any necessary renovations to one side (the side I won't be living in) in order to rent out. This will be my first buy and I don't want to waste a realtors time. In your experience, how long will it take on average from looking at places to closing and renovations and finding a renter. When is it realistic for me to get in contact with a realtor and start this process? Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi everyone, I will be relocating to Norfolk, VA in 6 months and looking to buy my first investment property. Looking for a good real estate agent who specializes in investment properties to connect with. Thank you.

I was only asking because an investor I ran into told me it was the hottest market and I just thought it was really interesting. Do you recommend by and hold and in what areas?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any advice on investing in Detroit, MI? Buy and hold, flips, e.t.c..

Michael Cohen Justin Cory Thanks for your advice. As an investment property, non-owner occupied..I figured I'd be looking at another type of loan. Thanks for the info provided I'll be looking into it. I'll also be getting in touch with the realtor because if she doesn't have a price already then she will very soon from what the landlord explained to me. At least it'll give me an idea of what I'm looking at. I also have a friend that owns an investment property 5 mins away that is going to come take a look at the place and run numbers with me. Thanks guys.

Thomas S. Thanks for your advice. I think maybe I should've been a little more descriptive. I move out of my apt in a month and moving in with relatives to continue saving money to start investing comfortably. The property doesn't go on the market for another few months upon completion of the 2nd unit and I don't transfer for another 7 months. And I definitely agree that proper research must be conducted in all categories before attempting to invest in a particular property. Those were definitely my intentions as I do not want to lose any money. And years of knowledge also comes with years of experience as I'm sure you're aware of. Thank you.

Hi everyone, Brief background, I'm Active Duty Military and I'm currently stationed in NYC. I've been renting an apt in a duplex for about two years now and will be moving out next month. My landlord recently knocked on my door and told me he may be selling and was wondering if I'd be interested in buying. My plan was to buy a multi-family at my next duty station but I'm considering this property. However, I know nothing at all about what I'd be getting myself into. All I know is that, the units are fully updated. No rehab needed. Minimal work here and there. Price seems good to me in this part of the Bronx where run down homes in the ghetto are selling for 600,000. I'm thinking this may be my chance to just jump right in. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance.
