Potential renter with clean criminal background report but googling the person resulted in an arrest for domestic violence by strangulation 6 months ago and an arrest for lewd/lascviousness 10 years ago.   Yes or no to this renter?

No way.

You are not operating a halfway house or providing social housing for high risk individuals.

Screening is in place to find reasons to eliminate applicants. Your screening standards allow a landlord to use discursion in rejecting applicants for a mired of reasons. Risk is a reason to reject. High risk, as in this situation, is a even better reason.

No point in taking on the risk and in this situation he may be getting housing provided by the state in the near future.
