Strategies for stringent tenant screening - min credit score ?

I have a duplex with a high-end two bedroom unit and while it is priced accordingly I want to be very selective on my potential tenant pool. Has anyone ever listed a minimum credit score on their rental application and if so is this indeed legal ? Minimum income and is this legal ?

EX: Min Credit Score 750 would eliminate many applicants - you could then choose to lower your criteria if you received a great applicant that was at 725, etc. Essentially setting the bar very high initially prior to any applications...

Having a minimum credit score for a tenant in the 700s is a great idea if you want vacant units.  I agree with the rest of the people that posted; look at the whole picture.  I have some tenants that have minimum credit b/c they pay everything in cash.  They are great tenants, but credit alone wouldn't tell that story.
