Theft of Tenant's Package

I texted my tenant this weekend to do some repairs in the apt. He was away, and said go ahead, and asked if there was a package delivered, could I bring it in. It was in a padded envelope. I left it on the counter. He texted me when he returned saying that there was a valuable item missing. I don't think he is accusing me, but I'm sure he wondered. It is an OK neighborhood, but lots of foot traffic and some of the passersby are sketchy. I know my daughter lost a Ninja Blender once due to a similar situation. Thing is, I found this between the storm door and the inside door. Just mentioning it in case anyone has any thoughts. I suppose it could have been removed anywhere from point a to point b.

    Replied

Your his landlord not his assistant. You didn't take anything from him, tell him so & continue on collecting his rent. If he stops paying rent, evict him and move a new tenant in. Repeat the process for several years, then buy a boat.
