Bathroom remodel with existing tenants
I am closing on my first property in January. It is a duplex with a current tenant in one half. The problem is that their bathroom is in desperate need of a redo and is actually under code violations by the local borough. I'm planning to redo the bathroom completely when I take it over but I'm trying to figure out what to do with the current tenants during the remodel.
There is only one bathroom/tub for their side. Do I open up the other side for them to use during the remodel?
I'm also looking for someone that does drywalling in the Chambersburg, PA area. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Simply ask the tenant if they wish to stay, making their own arrangements, or go. Alternately you could do the bare minimum to bring the bath to code and then wait for a vacancy to reno.
It is possible when you tell them what their new rent is going to be they may choose to leave anyway.
I normally would not advise reno work with a tenant in place however I am also facing a bath reno with a tenant in place in the near future. I have a leak around a very old tub and the time has come. Luckily for me it is a low end long term tenant. I simply informed him I would be doing the work and he will need to make do on his own. I don't need to provide him options under the circumstances as he is not going anywhere soon and he knows I do not care if he moves out. It will likely only take 3-5 days.
