Old Tenet Won't Sign Off of the Lease

The current problem that I am facing is that I have moved into an apartment with a friend of mine. Her old roommate moved out but is refusing to get off of the lease. The property manager knows I am the new tenant so there are no problems there. I was just wondering if there were any legal actions I could take in Ohio to force the old tenets name off of the lease?

Heck, why take the old tenant off the lease?  That means they're still responsible.  Tell the old tenant, "Great!  Thanks!  That means if we stop paying rent, that you have to!  I can't believe you'd be so generous!"  I bet they'll sign off real quick.
