Oh no. Please help landlord is making me responsible for remainder of rent

I signed a lease renewal in January(lease expired in October) upon landlord verbal acceptance of 60 day notice clause. Now landlord has denied from issuing me 60 day rider in the meantime I bought the house and moved out with 30 day notice. 

Landlord is making me responsible for remainder of the lease uptill October. What is my recourse?

Please help....
