PLEASE HELP ME. with this problem with a tenant from Hell!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with some advise. I have a tenant that just moved out, I had to evict her and her boyfriend, now they want to sue me for $7500. They say I had mold in my house that made them and their 2 kids sick. which is not true, they have some pictures that I don't know where they came from. I have 2 witnesses that can testify that I did not have mold in my addict. The AC handler leaked some without my knowledge and yes there was a small amount of water mold but not enough to make one sick and not the kind of mold that is black and you see in some homes.  They know I want to sell my house and I guess they think I'm going to have money to hand over to them. They left some damages to my house and the house smells so bad of cigarets that I'm having a hard time getting the smell out, since I've had to wait for the courts to order them out and then still had to wait for them to leave and now the time to repair my house, I haven't been able to put my house on the market. i have some texts that will help me some but I don't know because the courts side with tenants even when they are no good. The last text he wrote me saying that if I give them their deposit back ($1000.00) they will drop the law suit. their deposit covers the damages. But what he wrote, will that help me with my case. they are the tenants from hell. He knows how to work the system, he has had 7 or more evictions before. Can someone tell me if they know if people can actually get away with this crap?

I've had this kind of problem with tenants in the past  we always have the housing code inspector cone view the apartment and give us a written report about damages and condition of the unit. Also if there is a complaint after they move out about health issues we have the health department inspect the unit with a written report.  the issue here is if a tenant is threatening  a lawsuit your next step is not to talk with them but to respond such as. I can no longer discuss this with you all correspondence  will be thru my lawyer and your lawyer. Tell them that this is now a legal issue and you have nothing more to say to them. Any thing you say to them about this issue may harm your case so do not discuss this with them any further but ask for the name of their lawyer and phone number to give to your lawyer. This tactic usually stop them from harassing you any further,  Be strong and good luck.
