Question regarding splitting deposit refund between 2 lease holders

Hello,

I have a 2 bedroom in which the tenants just moved out. They were 2 unrelated friends.

Just wondering the best way to handle the deposit refund?

One tenant has provided a forwarding address, the other has not responded to a request for it.

A check for 1/2 of the deposit to the tenant who has provided the forwarding address.

1 check for the full deposit amount with both names on it?

Other?

Thanks,
Vickie

Both names on the deposit check. Those two can figure out how to split it.  That's not your concern. You took the deposit from both of them, you'll return it to both of them.
