Advertising Before Owning Rental Property

Is it illegal/unethical to advertise a property for rent, that you will likely purchase as a rental but have not yet purchased, in order to gauge the type of tenant response you'll get once you have the property? In other words, I'm trying to figure out what kind of response I'll get before I take the plunge and buy the property. I've looked at sites like Rentometer.com, but want to be sure these figures are accurate. Also, I would likely put the type of property/street of the property location (versus an exact address), if this makes a difference.
