Move-out with less than 30 day notice

Hi all, I am still relatively new to BP, and have a question. Any input/suggestion is greatly appreciated. I have tenant that move out but didn't give me 30 day notice. I was fortunate enough to find out about it when a prospective landlord call me up. I am in Virginia and not sure how much of the security deposit I get to deduct? Thanks in advance.

I use an "improper lease termination" clause that covers the penalty if proper notice isn't given. I've validated with an attorney here that's legal. If they fail to give me the 30 days notice required by the lease I apply that fee. I make it equal to the security deposit amount. This is explicitly stated in the lease they sign when they move in.
