Help Rent out a house

I have a house that need to be rented. I work a lot and dont have time. I was going to have my friend help me rent it out. The house is in southern california. Do you need a license to rent out the house?

I think i heard somewhere he might need a real estate license to help me rent out the house.. I thought it sounds stupid.. why would you need a license to help rent out a house.. thousands of people rent and sublet their house... so i want to get to the bottom line. In california , do you need a license to help rent out a house?
