6 month lease is up - then monthly
Hi all,
First time landlord here. I have a roommate who signed a 6 month lease in July. He wanted to go month to month after the lease ends on Dec. 31. I have a tenant already lined up (my separated wife is moving back in in December/January). I want to give him enough time to look for a place so I want to break the news as soon as possible. Are there protocols for this? Legal notice I have to give him?
Thanks for any help.

You have to give legal notice regardless. Be extra careful in Ca. Did you say you want to rent to your ex? Man you got guts!
