Section 8 in small town (2k people)

Posted

Is it risky to buy a house in a small town? Problems could be that I cannot sell it or rent it because of lack of demand.

Would it still rent if I put it on Section 8? I heard there is a lot of demand for section 8 housing.

@Tomas Giro My town has about 2600 people in the summer maybe 2000 in the winter. There is a huge demand for appropriately priced real estate here. There is also a huge demand for rentals and Section 8.

Probably depends on your town if there is a demand for rentals or Section 8.

Your Town Offices might be able to answer that question if you can find no one else to ask because they will know about things like rental assistance and the tax assessor should know approximately how many rentals there are.

To the other post there is no real estate meeting here except once a year (in the larger town of 7000, 10 miles away) and I was the first investor that had ever shown up. The closest regular meeting is 2 hours away.
