Tenant changed thermostat without permission and has threatened to "take steps" .

I have had a tenant for 3 years that lives in a 8 unit building. Within the last 4 months I have raised her rent $50 and I required a new 1 yr lease. Since then she has become a headache and is possibly losing it upstairs.  Today she informed me that her son in law changed the thermostat in my unit and claims the neighbor next door has control of her furnace(not possible). She also claims the neighbor is injecting cold air inside the wall cavity in her unit and claims people have tried to break in her unit from the attic so her son in law drilled a big piece of metal across the access door. She has made comment that she is prepared to "take steps" toward the poor lady she lives next to that is on oxygen and in bad health. How would you handle this?

Obviously the tenant is not right in the head. I would make swallow the pride and pay her to leave so she gets out of there sooner than later. You said it's an 8 unit, you don't want to keep her around and have her bothering anymore of the tenants or else they will try and move out due to the fact that dealing with her isn't worth them living in that complex. Save yourself in the long run.
