Frozen faucets
This is not Alaska but a frozen faucet in Maple Valley, Wa. All the faucets are frozen, the heat is off as of now ( no one lives at the property). The heat will be hopefully up in a day. The temperatures were in the teens but will start rising above 34 in a day. I have turned off the mains. The question I have is, what is the process I need to follow to thaw the pipes once the heat is on, or will they just thaw naturally. What precautions I need to take or do I need to call in a plumber to detect any leaks. Yes, it was quite stupid of me to not have the heat fixed in time. Look forward to money saving recommendations.
Thanks
Inder

Or have a professional plumber do a pressure check with compressed air without turning the water main back on.
The things that are maybe more vulnerable are going to be the toilet traps - the traps are actually within the bowls. Lots of other trouble spots - washing machines, dish washers, toilet tanks, hot water heaters. Any plastic faucets might be cracked.
Even the banks are smart enough to (try to) winterize their REO properties starting in September or October ...
