Tenant Offers Yard Services - How to go about this?

Posted

My new tenant has offered to clean up snow on the sidewalks, parking lot driveways during the snow season for a reduction in rent. I am wondering what your thoughts are on it. My first thought was IF I allow this and get a "contract" with him, it would be a case-by-case basis where the payments would be made per occasion, or per snowstorms, not a reduction in the rent. Let me know your thoughts and opinions.

what if I were to create a contract stating that I should not be held liable for any incidents. Do you think that would cover the bases?

Read what you just wrote. 'You' will create a contract? That will surely not be legal...are you a lawyer?

Why do landlords always try to save $50 and take these great risks?

The answer is NO. Just pay someone to do the work you want done. Way too much liability here......
