Associate Proposing Amendment to Master Deed

Thomas P.
Posted

My association recently sent out a proposed amendment to the master deed. For us to vote on. They would now like to put a rent restriction on 10% of the units available to rent. There will currently be 79 units that will be grandfathered in and a waiting list if you would like to rent. I feel that this is unfair and hoping that others vote no. Has anyone dealt with this before ? I am prepared to hire an attorney if needed.

not sure we are following you.

are you saying there are 79 total units and only 10% can be rentals if this covenant is added to the master deed ?

these restrictions are gaining traction big time. With wholes neighborhoods turning into rentals.. to many rentals in one neighborhood of owner occ and that is not good it brings DOWN the values unless its high end STR market. If its just monthly rentals then thats what your seeing .

there are many subdivisions I have seen in the deep south were zero rentals are allowed.. these are higher end developments of course.. but you can see owner occ's having a big issue with tenants moving in next door not taking care of the property like tenants are want to do.
