Financial Advisor Recommendation

Can anyone recommend an effective financial advisor who simply helps you with investing strategy and is not trying to sell you a product (ie life insurance)...with a partcular focus on real estate?  I live in KY but don't mind working with someone out of state.

@Mike Kerber - I would recommend you take a look at fee-only investment advisors. You can check out http://www.NAPFA.org as well as http://www.xyplanningnetwork.com to find fiduciary/fee-only advisors who won’t sell you products.

As a bonus, on XY Planning Network’s site, you can filter by specialty, and there are a number of financial advisors that specialize in working with real estate investors, of which I am one of those.

Lastly, you want to find someone that is a CFP, which stands for Certified Financial Planner. In my opinion, you don’t want to pay someone for financial advice that can’t pass that test and agree to the ethics standards.

Hope this helps!
