Southwest Credit Card - Points/Companion Pass
I’ve listened to the credit card hacking podcast on BP/BP Money and a similar one from the guys at Choose FI. I know things are always changing and am looking for some guidance on the Southwest credit card strategy.
According to their app, the current sign up bonus is 40,000 points. I’ve bever had a card w them before. I would like to earn the 110,000 points to get the Companion Pass. My understanding is that this is good for the remainder of the calendar year it’s earned and all of the following calendar year - effectively up to 2 years.
I am planning a trip now for 2019 that I would like to book on Southwest. I’m not sure it makes sense for me to apply for the card now and should probably wait until early 2019.
Anyone have any thoughts or strategies for this? Wait until 2019? Better bonus than 40,000 points? Is the Companion Pass still 110,00?
Thanks in advance.
