Best way to save on taxes now??

Advice needed ASAP! Anyone have any recommendations on tax advice for end of year tax planning. We have a high income and paid an extra 40k in taxes last year... we are looking to find a way to avoid his this year. The problem is that our accountant is advising us to bonus ourselves and pay the taxes... advice??
