We are looking for a personal financial advisor.  Someone who is familiar with inheritances and IRAs and real estate investing.

Thanks in advance.

You want a FEE ONLY financial planner (CFP = Certified Financial Planner). Many financial advisors make their living by selling life insurance policies, or by taking a fee for Assets Under Management (AUM).

As a real estate investor, you almost certainly do not want such an advisor.

XY Planning network (no affiliation with BiggerPockets) is a network of FEE ONLY financial advisors. You can browse there and interview for CFPs who you think know their stuff when it comes to inheritance (a good CFP should also be able to refer you to an estate planning attorney who is another critical team member) and real estate. You may have to interview a few to find someone with the specilializations you want.

I can't emphasize the FEE ONLY piece enough. A CFP who does not charge you by the hour will cost you ten or hundreds of times more in the form of life insurance products you don't need and AUM fees you shouldn't be paying.
