Hi Bigger pockets I am looking for a CPA in the Philadelphia area. I am looking for someone who specializes in real estate. Preferably someone who has investments of there own in real estate. I am also looking for someone who can create an LLC. Again, would like to deal with someone who has investments of there own in real estate. Thanks

@Vincent M. Be careful allowing a CPA to file your LLC paperwork unless that CPA is also an attorney. CPAs offering to do such things should generally be approached with caution. Forming an organization such as an LLC falls under the attorney client privilege. Not only that, as a CPA who sincerely wants what is best for his clients, I always refer my clients to an attorney to handle these matters as the attorney has the legal expertise required to do such a thing properly. Why would I, a licensed specialist in tax and accounting, risk my client's business's integrity over pride and a few hundred bucks by practicing a trade I'm not qualified nor licensed for?

Aside from the above, I'm sure you've seen me post about this before, but don't be afraid to go non-local. You will expose yourself to a wider pool of expertise which is critical for real estate investors.

Many of us service clients all over the US and even world. We utilize various forms of technology to collaborate seamlessly with our clients and rarely have issues.

If you are set on using someone local, search the BP forums for investors local to you and reach out to ask for a referral. Or join a local FaceBook/ REIA group.

Here's a blog post that goes into detail questions to ask a CPA.

    Hope this helps!
