Looking for Mentor to learn and grow with

Josh Moeller
Posted

Hello BP,

My name is Josh, I am a younger male from Wisconsin; I am in search of a mentor to help me kickstart my real estate investing journey.

I am still relatively new to the process and would like to find someone who can break the whole process down to a more simplified level and guide me through it. I am looking for a long-term to lifetime professional relationship with my mentor.

Learning new things is a strong suit of mine and I am usually very eager to do so. I have learned a very limited amount from the BP YouTube channel as I am more of a hands-on learner rather than visual. I believe the best way to learn something is by doing it.

My ultimate goal is to quit my W2 job ASAP, but I am also looking to save or build equity for retirement. I, also, do not own property and I have very little to no capital to play around with, as of the time of this post.

I have never owned a home either, so I am just generally curious about the home buying process if I ever wanted to buy one to use as my primary residence. That just means we can start from scratch and not have to deal with old habits that may not work the way we’d like them to.

Anyway, I am possibly willing to accept OOS mentors but in state is preferred. Being able to meet in person is a huge plus for me, but it is not necessarily required. Out of state travel is a bit difficult for me if it is beyond the Midwest territory.

If any of you would like to get to know more about me, please let me know. I am hoping to get to meet more of you guys and gals, and I’m excited to get to hopefully work with you guys in the future.

sincerely,

  - Josh M.

Hi Josh,

It's not that complicated as some people make it sound. House hacking with a duplex is hands down the best way to get started. Talk to a good agent (preferrably with personal experience in investing, which is not super common) and they can connect you to everyone else like lenders, contractors etc

A mentor is someone who can help you look at things the right way. What you describe looks sound smore like a teacher. Instead, spend a few bucks on some books, every last one at the BP book store is worth to read.

Depending on where you are in Wisconsin, join a local association and offer investors to help for free, run errands, clean up jobs.. this will get you some hands on experience. Good luck!

Marcus
