Looking for tax accountant for real estate and crypto

Kenzie Davisson

Looking for recommendations for a CPA with real estate and cryptocurrency experience. Being local doesn’t matter - we have business across several states. Thanks.

@Kenzie Davisson Welcome to BiggerPockets!

If you're primarily concerned about federal taxes, then you might be better served by working with an Enrolled Agent (EA).

CPAs are licensed by state, so you might need one for each state you operate within. By contrast, EAs are IRS-authorized tax experts, so a single one can help you regardless of location.

This advice is not accurate, actually. I'm 'saying this being an EA myself. Yes, we have a Federal license, and CPAs have state licenses, but it does not prevent a CPA licensed in one state from preparing a state return in a different state, in most cases. In other words, both EAs or CPAs are solid choices.

If you browse this forum, you will see 20+ CPAs and EAs answering questions. Select a few whose knowledge and personality appeal to you and contact them privately. We all work remotely and nationwide. Also, we all are quite busy, so don't wait.
