Section 179 for tools on rental home
Good evening. I purchased a home last year. Long story short, there was a divorce and I moved out a short time later. I decided to lease the home out earlier this year (I have sole possession and it is only in my name). I have a pretty good understanding of depreciation but my question is how to deduct tools used for the home. I plan on trying to purchase another home for rental purposes in a year or two. Since this is my first year officially renting my home, could I use Section 179 to deduct the cost of basic tools for maintenance--the tools in question would be trimmer, lawn mower, pressure washer, etc.
Any help would be appreciated!

In my leases, lawn mowing is a tenant responsibility. I don't offer a rental discount. If the tenant wants to outsource lawn maintenace, the tenant pays for it.
