Solo 401k transfer to Roth Solo 401k

Hello BP,

I have Solo 401k and I want to do in-plan rollover to Roth Solo 401k. End of the year is creeping up and I want to get this done. What is the step by step process? I understand you have to fill out 1099-R but which portion do I have to fill out? What is next after that?

Thank you,

Tosh

@Toshiki Hoshino,

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!

Form 1099-R is the IRS form reporting taxable event. Roth conversion form is internal form to document the event, this form is used to generate form 1099-R later (must be issued by January 31st). We provide this form to our clients so request one from your provider.

We do issue form 1099-R for our clients in this situation, but I can't speak of your provider, I don't know what services they provide. Again, you have to inquire with them.
