Converting detached garage into separate rental

I'm looking at purchasing a 3/2/0 SFH in Oklahoma that has a detached 750 square foot garage that the previous owner converted into a 1/1/0 apartment. It doesn't appear to be metered separately and still shows as a garage on the county tax assessor website.

I’d like to use this 1/1 apartment as an AirBnB, or perhaps a second rental.

I’m sure there would be some hurdles to jump through to make this conversion into a separate apartment legally.

Any advice on viability and process of making the 1/1 garage conversion into a legal second home on the property is much appreciated.
