Should I have my name added to deed to protect myself in a joint

Have a property I'm now going in on for a joint venture with a partner. It's a SFR and it's a fix and flip. We have all the details as far as percentages and exactly who's responsibilities are who's. Currently his name is on title only. should I have my name on title as well? Or is there some type of quit deed or something along those lines to allow more protection? I've been doing business with this guy for years as far as contracting goes, but this is the first flip deal we are in together on. Any advice or helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
