LLC for out of state investor

Hello BP I am a newbie looking to invest out of state. Any advice on whether to setup LLC in my state vs the state I'll be investing in. I know you cant legally advise, but any info based on your experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Brandon that's helpful. I found out that MD has an annual fee of $300! For anyone curious, I found a link with applicable fees for each state:
