@John Acheson - as an EA myself, I have to disagree with your CPA v EA point. We EAs have a Federal license in tax representation before the IRS. It does not make us more qualified to deal with states compared to CPAs. Both CPAs and EAs should be evaluated by the same criteria: competence, scope and quality of services, personality (if any) etc. The alphabet letters do not matter.
