I'm asking this question for my father who is looking to be a private investor for real estate projects.  He is looking for a reputable, low fee, custodian company for self directed ira's to use for these projects.  I have had a tough time locating any in St. Louis, but was wondering if anyone can make some recommendations. Thanks

@Matt Guignon Does he NEED a custodian? With a self directed IRA, can't HE, as the trustee, be in charge of directing the funds to the various investments he wants to make? Why pay for the serivce that he can do himself?

I have an investor client who's self directed IRA is in an LLC, and she has a checkbook that she uses to fund RE projects. She doesn't have the delay or the added expense of another person. Just a thought....
