In which state should I file my taxes?

Hello BP! Looking for a little guidance while we gain our bearings in the REI world. We own a home in Atlanta, GA that has been our primary residence. As of yesterday (12.29), we officially closed on our new primary in North Carolina as we transition the Atlanta home into a permanent rental. Does it matter which state we file our taxes in? I’ve read that whichever state we “reside” in is where we can file, but that we might have to file in GA as well for the state taxes. Recommendations for a great REI CPA in whichever state? All other advice is appreciated!! Thanks in advance! Shannon Duffins
