Closing Attorney Suing Me
Hello BP, family about a year ago I closed on my first deal. This is the horror story to follow.
A check was sent to me from my closing attorney's office. The check was sent back to their office due to them having the wrong mailing address. The attorney's staff reached out and called me about confirming my current address. The check was then sent again. This time I received it and I waited a few days and emailed their office concerning this matter. They said they would look into it. I received a call and was told it was money owed to me after closing and I was free to spend it as I wish. Two months after the attorney's office realized they made a mistake they called me. I made several attempts to try and set up a payment plan to pay the money back and work with them but did not want to accept any of my offers because they said the payment was to low.
Fast forward to a year later now I am being sued on the matter. Can someone please point me in the right direction I need to go to and what kind of attorney to hire if any? Civil or real estate attorney
