Tenant left her belongings after being left there over a month

I'm purchasing a property and the ex tenant ais requesting that they left important  stuff in the house, (which they didn't) after leaving it abandoned for 2 months . is this considered abandonment??  The ex tenant is requesting that I owe them  for throwing their stuff away. Pls reply what do you think??
