City Appraisal after Purchase Question
So I recently purchased a Duplex to keep long term. The city is coming in this week to appraise the property while I am remodeling the lower unit. I was thinking that if I make this unit as unappealing as possible (since we are currently remodeling it) that this may help lower the assessed value and save a little on taxes each year. However, I don't know if they will ultimately screw me over in the long run if I do try to sell the place? Lastly, maybe I'm over thinking this and the cosmetic look may not even affect how they assess a property's value. Any thoughts recommendations?
