physician/Doctor loans for investment properties

Hello. I wanted to see if any of you have any experience using what is known as a "physician/doctor loan". this type of loan is available for medical professionals (dentists, podiatrists, surgeons, etc) that usually lets them borrow about certain LTV limits and not have to pay PMI. the down payment requirements are usually a lot less (sometimes as low as 3-5%). I know that polices can vary from bank to bank, but can these be used for investment properties as well or are they limited to the primary residence only? what are some creative ways you have used them in your experience. would love to get some feed back on this.
